RESET
About
Reset reacts to the concept of the Modern City as the product of cheap energy and controlled nature, by breaking an urban hardscape through a natural fissure. The project understands the human being as a biological creature entangled in ecological relationships within the biosphere, and advocates for the interdependence of all forms of life and the conservation of biological diversity.
The proposed fissure breaks the asphalt, giving way to the fresh and fertile land underneath. It arises from an existing nature—the central tree—and extends through the Plaza de Escuelas Trevijano, reconfiguring the public space to catalyze an interaction between species. Rich and diverse vegetation grows inside the fissure, attracting pollinators, birds, and small animals, and enabling citizens to engage with the native nature of the surrounding landscapes, while in an urban setting.
Reset is the triumph of nature over the city. A statement to transform the materiality of our cities’ public spaces into naturalized urban landscapes that aid to mitigate climate change, attract biodiversity, and become a catalyzer of healthier cities.
