Piece developed for "Preludio" exhibition at Proyecto Publico Prim.

“A Liquid Relationship” explores through two triptychs the dysfunctional relationship of our society with water. Appropriating the aestheticsof printed bills that celebrate the advances of our civilization through monuments and illustrious characters, we expose a relationship full of contradictions, tensions andabuse of power.

“A Liquid Relationship I” represents the evolution of this relationship, using Mexico City as a case study. From the pre-Hispanic city that harmoniously coexisted with water—represented as a nostalgic memory of an idyllic past—to the city of Eurocentric modernity in which the ideals of progress aspired tocontrol, subjugate and rationalize water flows—drawn as a technical section of water infrastructure—to the dystopian present of persistent droughts, privatization and pollution of water bodies—embodied as a current crisis of rivers of garbage, piped canals, and ubiquitous highways.
