Activity Condenser
About
The project is located in the notorious rubble mountain Teufelsberg: a “non-place” apparently foreign to any other place, but which cannot be understood without the city of Berlin and the historical context where it belongs. Once Speer’s notorious military Nazi Academy, later an American espionage station, it now lies abandoned since the 90s. But from being unused, it has become a exceptional meeting point for spontaneous raves, illegal concerts, and occasional gatherings, all taking place within the unique atmosphere created by its massive partly dilapidated domes.
Barely touching the existing structure and carefully maintaining the place’s unique essence, we propose a new “activity condenser”: a place of permanent activity where all these spontaneous activities will continue to co-exist, together with new types of cultural programs that will be reprogrammed through time and actively defined by visitors.
